Philanthropy

From the time of our founding, Alpha Delta Pi has believed in the importance of giving back to our community. A dedication to philanthropy guides our members to spend time in the service of those who need it most. Our international organization’s commitment to Ronald McDonald House Charities has led to the donation of over $15,000,000 over the course of our partnership. More than 350 Ronald McDonald Houses in 64 countries help keep families with seriously ill or injured children together when they need it most by offering them a comfortable, temporary residence in proximity to a medical facility.

A Letter from our Director of Philanthropy, Valentina Chelala:

“We Live for Each Other,” Alpha Delta Pi’s open motto could not be held more true through Theta Kappas’s philanthropy efforts. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is a mission-driven organization that aims to lodge families with sick children just steps away from the hospitals where they are receiving critical medical care. RMHC provides housing and meals for as long as necessary at zero cost to the families. Gifting families reassurance, a place to relax, and a small piece of comfort in these trying times. Living in the heart of Boca Raton, we are fortunate enough to be located just 22 miles from Ronald Mcdonald House South Florida which provided almost 15,000 nights of housing for local families in the past year. Being just 40 minutes away from our local RMH, our sisters have the opportunity to volunteer through RHMC’s “Adopt-a-Meal” program, in addition to visiting and bringing joy to the house.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to lead my chapter in our philanthropic efforts and support RMHC. In 2023, Theta Kappa raised over $50,000 for RMHC by hosting events such as a Water Wars, Pie-a-Pi, and a collegiate dance competition. For the families staying in an RMH, life is unpredictable. One day they know with certainty the ground they tread on and the next they may find their whole world turned upside down. ADPi has given me the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with RMHC. Over the past few years, I have fallen in love with the organization and its drive to help others. I am lucky to stand by a group of women who inspire me every day. My Alpha Delta Pi sisters are the most loyal, and thoughtful group of women who serve as a constant reminder that in order to reach the stars you have to aim for the universe. While volunteering with  RMH, I heard a former resident say, “I hope your family never needs the Ronald McDonald House… but if they do, there’s nothing like it,” and he could not have been more right. From the very bottom of my heart, thank you for putting your trust in me to lead this organization in supporting something greater than all of us, and doing everything we can to make Ronald McDonald House a home.

All my love,

Valentina Chelala
